In french language, the names of things as well as the names of persons
are either masculine or feminine. There are no neuter nouns in French.
- The is Le before
a masculine singular noun beginning with a consonant
- The is La before
a feminine singular noun beginning with a consonant
- Both le and la are
shortened to l' before a singular noun beginning
with a vowel
- No article is used before
proper nouns of persons
Example: Voici le livre.
Voilà la chaise
Voilà l'image
Article indéfini
Se
placent devant un nom qui n’est pas identifiable.
It is
placed before a name that is not identifiable.
- Un: a, an is used before a masculine noun
- Une: a, an
is used before a feminine noun
- Des: some is used for plural form.
Example : Voici un agenda
Voici une fille
Voilà des clés
